I’ll give you my best 2 tips for volleyball tryouts, and 1 pet peeve of mine, but then you’re going to have to download the pdf to get more. This question comes from @paigecurran_ on Instagram (don't forget to follow me @volleyball_challenge).
Show up to Volleyball Tryouts on time. That means you arrive with enough time to do the following:
I would suggest approximately 15-20 minutes early, as long as you don’t think there will be a tremendous amount of paperwork to fill in when you get there. If you’re unsure, aim for 20-25 minutes early. Don’t show up an hour early though. If you’re extremely early, the gym may not be setup and the coaches probably won’t be ready for you yet. WHATEVER YOU DO, BE COMPLETELY READY ON TIME.
Good Attitude!I’ll spare you the puns and cheesy sayings. The bottom line, don’t be a jerk. Don’t treat people like crap. Don’t think you’re better than everyone else, even if you are. Don’t be a miserable turd, even if you are. Do be polite, kind and respectful. If you want to make the team, you need to act like someone that other would like to be around for the next few months. Be happy to partner with anyone. Be happy to play any position. You don’t have to be someone you’re not, but you need to bring your pleasant side to tryouts.
Don’t be the one who is always talking, and then never knows what they’re supposed to be doing. Maybe this is a personal pet peeve, but I bet other coaches would agree. Here is the downloadable PDF of 21 tips to make a good impression at volleyball tryouts. Good luck!
